As the newest Charles Hull Contracting apprentice or trainee, you will have hands-on experience with the tools you will be using on a day to day basis. Unlike other apprenticeship programs, we understand the importance of hands-on experience, and the opportunity to work with tools, learn about them, make mistakes and develop in a controlled environment surrounded by experienced titans in the industry.

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

At the end of each year, CHC offer apprenticeships including boilermaker, auto electrician, heavy diesel mechanic & light vehicle mechanic and roles in various administration areas. We also run scraper schools where suitable candidates are trained and mentored, gaining hands-on experience and vital knowledge to start a career as mobile machine operators.

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

To be considered for an apprenticeship or traineeship you must have completed year 10 as part of a secondary education. You will be able to demonstrate a high level of initiative and will have the passion and drive to work hard and complete an Apprenticeship/Traineeship along with your study commitments. You will have good time management skills, the ability to take direction and take on board constructive feedback.

Administration Trainee

As a CHC Trainee you will complete a Tafe course relevant to your department and be rewarded with a completion of traineeship certificate. As a trainee, you will provide support to upper management whilst learning the procedures and processes of the department.

In the past, the following Tafe course were assigned to trainees: Certificate III in Business Administration, Certificate IV in Finance & Bookkeeping, Certificate IV in Work, Health & Safety.

Automotive Electrician

Join our enthusiastic, professional maintenance team and sustain our fleet of light vehicles and earthmoving equipment. By completing a certificate III in automotive electrical technology, you will acquire the proficiency to handle complex electrical systems efficiently and keep our vehicles running smoothly and safely.

Light Vehicle Mechanic

Embark on a journey as a light vehicle mechanic apprentice, where you’ll become adept at servicing and maintaining a diverse range of light vehicles. Through practical training and theoretical knowledge, you will gain the skills necessary to keep vehicles in top condition. Completing a certificate III in light vehicle mechanical technology sets you on the path to becoming a valued member of the automotive industry.

Heavy Diesel Mechanic

As a heavy diesel mechanic apprentice you’ll learn to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy diesel vehicles and equipment. Through hands-on experience and guided learning, you’ll gain the skills necessary to excel in this field. Completing a certificate III in mobile plant technology will equip you with the knowledge and qualifications needed to tackle the challenges of the industry.


A boilermaker apprentice will undergo training in engineering fabrication, earning a certificate III qualification. With precision and skill, you will contribute to the creation and maintenance of essential infrastructure and equipment.
